Water Plus is continually developing strategies and products which will reduce the effects of excessive power, water usage and e-waste. Sustainability is our passion.
Municipal and Commercial:
We have participated in five (5) municipal sewer mining feasibility studies and one commercial project during the last twelve months. Water Plus is also consulting on black and grey water treatment and recycling for commercial buildings and resorts.
Domestic:
Whether it be rain water tanks, pumps, water treatment and reuse of black water and grey water systems Water Plus, based in Canberra, can assist with advice, sales and service.
Australian Government Rebates for Households to install Rainwater Tanks and Greywater Treatment Systems
On 30 January 2009 the Minister for Climate Change and Water announced that the Australian Government is offering rebates of up to $500 to households for the purchase and installation of new rainwater tanks which are connected for internal reuse of the water for toilet and/or laundry use ('plumbed in') or the purchase and installation of permanent greywater treatment systems. Final decisions regarding rebate eligibility will be made by the Australian Government.
The guidelines and application form for the National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative household rebates are available from www.environment.gov.au/water or by calling 1800 808 571.
Why does the rainwater tank or greywater treatment system need to be plumbed in? What does this mean?
Plumbing in to the house will help reduce the amount of water taken from the existing mains supply.
Modelling results vary across Australia but the yield of a tank increases when it is connected to the house. For example, a tolilet connection of a 2,000 litre tank (average roof area) is estimated to increase the yield of a tank in Sydney by 32 per cent and in Melbourne by 10 per cent.
Plumbing in means a permanent connection, installed by a licensed plumber, or a rainwater tank or greywater system to indoor plumbing for toilet and/or laundry use, in the case of a greywater treatment system, to a sub-surface irrigation system and/or indoor plumbing for toilet and/or laundry use (if this is allowed under state or territory regulations).
Why Recycle?
Grey water recycling is far more effective than relying on rain to fall. With a WaterPlus ultraGTS it 'rains' every day. Approximately 80% of the water that goes to drain in your home is grey water. The other 20% is toilet water and water from the kitchen sink that is known as black water and cannot be recycled. Each time you shower, bath, and wash your clothes or hands water can be captured by the Sump Collection Tank for processing. Therefore water is available for reuse every day to 'rain' on your garden or be used again for the other purposes listed below.
The ACT Government Department of Health have a Fact Sheet on Greywater use. They are informative guidelines for residential properties in Canberra.
Under the guidelines water treated to a high standard can be reused for more than just the garden. The WaterPlus ultraGTS provides high quality water that enables the treated water to be stored for reuse at your discretion.

Water Plus Greywater Treatment System - GTS
Water recycling is an emerging
area and much of the legislation, including health regulations, science
and product development is still emerging. Consequently there should
be a high degree of caution in making decisions in this area.
If you are thinking of installing a rainwater tank or recycling grey water, Water Plus recommends that you read the following two booklets that the ACT Government has produced. To download these booklets from our website please click on the following:
